Fade of the Day – Levi’s 511 (2.5 Years, Unknown Washes)

Thanks to Levi Strauss, we can all enjoy blue jeans, and thanks to Carson from California, we can admire his thrashed Levi’s 511’s for today’s edition of Fade of the Day! Clocking in at two-and-a-half years of action, these Levi’s have seen countless wears and washes, leaving them faded, crocked, and creased—just how we like ’em.

Carson has worn these jeans biking, skating, and to work in a bike shop, and all this wear led to so much dye-loss that he actually tried to re-dye them indigo! But the denim gods had plans for these Levi’s, as the dye didn’t take well and the fading continued.

As well as some shredded thighs, stacked up honeycombs, and subtle train-track fades, these jeans have picked up quite a few battle scars over the years, and Carson has repaired them as best he could, with a hand-crank Singer sewing machine and whatever he had on hand. But sadly, the damage has become too extensive for his humble machine, and he tells us these Levi’s are about ready to retire.
