Fade of the Day – Custom patchwork denim jacket (3 Years, Unknown Washes)

Boo! No, today’s Fade of the Day doesn’t belong to Frankenstein’s monster, but to Illinois-based Nate Robbins. Jokes aside, this is a stunning one-off piece of faded denim glory—a custom-made noragi-style jacket patched together from vintage jeans—made by Nate himself.

As a lover of Japanese culture and all things denim, Nate built this patchwork piece last year after learning how to sew. The construction itself is nothing short of genius—notice how the plackets are parts of old waistbands with the belt loops left intact. And although this isn’t our usual formula for Fade of the Day, you can’t deny the wabi-sabi beauty and patina of each indiviual patch on of the jacket. With roping, honeycombs, puckering, and more indigo-tones than you can shake a Union Special at, this jacket really is a celebration of denim evolution.
