Big thanks to Harlem’s Smidrin for documenting the progression his monster 24 oz. Samurai S710XX’s have gone through, and also for sending that documentation this way. These are some heavy duty jeans, and it’s always nice to see what jeans of this caliber are capable of. For that, they deserve to be our Fade Of The Day.
There’s a lot going on here, but let’s start with the crotch, because why not. With five or so blow outs, we’re wondering if a few more washes could have been helpful in preventing some (if not all) of that damage. But then again, we can tell Smidrin is a man on a mission, and we get the gist that’s he’s purposefully going as far between washes as possible. Subsequent washes, when he gets around to it, will really make his fades pop with contrast, but even still, he’s worn this pair hard enough over the last year-and-a-half that some nicely contrasting fades are already bursting through on their own. That wear included performances on stage, porter work, riding bikes, and breaking ankles on the court.
Smidrin shared with us that he happened to be at Blue in Green Soho when the shipment of these arrived, and he fell in love with this heavyweight pair. After hounding the owner to let him buy a pair a little early, the shop aquiessed. His persistence paid off, and after looking at these Samurai’s, we’re glad he didn’t let up!
