Dawson Denim Does a New Fit in Natural Indigo

In the summer, I visited the Dawson Denim workshop. I saw fat rolls of raw denim, mythical Union Special machines, and a brand that’s determined to make masterfully-crafted garments that look great and last a lifetime.

Coming straight out of that same workshop is their latest jean, the DD014 Wide Leg Tapered, which comes in natural indigo. This newly concocted fit is similar to their wide-leg silhouette, but with a slightly lower rise and a gentle taper from the knee down. Dawson picked a 14.5oz. natural plant-dyed indigo selvedge denim for these wide boys, which has the potential to reveal authentic, subdued fades as it wears down.

As always, the British artisans have included a plethora of details on this jean, including mixed-yarn pocket bags, flat-felled inseams, and a natural, hand-branded, undyed leather patch. The DD014 also is Dawson’s first model to feature their new arcuate stitching, which sits upon the spade-shaped back pockets.

Each pair is handmade, signed, and numbered by their maker, and available for purchase at Dawson Denim for £280 (~$372).
