Changing the formula for a classic garment is risky business, but this collaborative jacket from Eidos and Vanson Leather Co. is here to show us that risks can certainly pay off. Vanson may be known for their legendary leather jackets made from tough, luxurious hides, but this meeting with the soft-tailoring mavens at Eidos has seen cowhide swapped for canvas.
This jacket may not be made of leather, but the 18oz. cotton it’s constructed from is as tough as they come. Oh, and it’s dyed with all-natural Japanese indigo, which holds the potential for high contrast fades. While the fabric may have been updated, the Asymmetrical Moto Jacket has all the hallmarks of a classic biker jacket: a slanted, zipped front placket, multiple slash pockets across on the torso, elongated zip-closures on the lower arms, and of course, a timeless snap-down moto style collar.
Each limited edition piece is built in the U.S.A. by Vanson’s highly skilled makers, and sealed with the iconic Vanson neck label.
Available at Unionmade for $1,395.
