Fade of the Day – Freenote Cloth Rios Indigo Fleck (2 years, 1 Washes, 6 Years)

Want fades but that heavyweight denim isn’t really keeping you warm at night? How about trying some cotton-wool blend blanket denim? That did the trick for Ryan Hodges whose Freenote Cloth Rios Indigo Fleck denim just made our Fade of the Day.

After two years of wear in New York winters and work in a wine warehouse, Ryan’s Freenotes have begun to pop some flecks. The original deep indigo has lightened quite a bit, particularly in the seat and thighs. Some faint whiskers and honeycombing have begun to peek through and heavy creases have set home in the cuffs.

The deep indigo plays off of the colorful nep specks like the pants-legged version of Starry Night. The fabric itself is a blend of cotton, denim, acrylic, and polyester which could slow down or limit the fading, but it gives the denim an unparalleled unique look that will continue to age nicely and will no doubt keep Ryan warm during the upcoming New York winter.
