Fade Friday – Nudie Grim Tim (3 Years, 1 Wash, 3 Soaks)

The weekend is here! And just like every week, we’re kicking it off in style with Fade Friday. Making the cut this week is this pair of Nudie Grim Tim’s, which belong to Daniel Fung from Sydney, Australia. These Nudies were, in fact, Daniel’s first pair of raw denim jeans, and it’s safe to say that (unlike some of us) he got it right the first time around!

Daniel tells us that, for three years, he’s worn these Nudies while fishing, playing tennis, and even sleeping. What he’s been left with is a stark, carved wear pattern, with each crease as defined as the next. From the piled-up whiskers to the rippling stacks near the hems, epic fades cover the jean entirely. And we usually see fairly subdued fades from Nudie jeans, but those three-dimensional honeycombs let you know that Daniel’s pair are an exception.

Numerous repairs have been needed along the way, but Daniel is lucky enough to live right near a Nudie store, where he can have these belters patched up anytime, free of charge. And though these one’s might require a retirement ceremony soon, Daniel is clearly destined for fades, so roll on the next pair, we say.
