Fade Friday – A.P.C. Petit New Standard (19 Months, 1 Washes, 2 Soaks)

Every pair of jeans tells a story, and for this week’s Fade Friday we hear a tale of collegiate fades from Kevin Castillo of State College, Pennsylvania. Kevin went into an A.P.C. store in Manhattan and walked out wearing a pair of Petit New Standards.

Kevin wasn’t allowed to wear jeans at work, so he slept in them every night and for 48 hours on end on the weekends. He would even take them off to shower and immediately put them on when he got out because he wanted to get as much leg time as he could.

You can see a phone outline in his right front pocket, an imprint of a wallet in his back right pocket, and even the rough outline of brass knuckles in the back left pocket for all the danger he likely encounters in the Penn State dining hall. There are defined whiskers that start up in the waist and are sprinkled down the legs in areas of heavy wear as well as some nice stacked honeycombs at the knees.

Repairs on both the left and right side of the crotch were made 6 to 7 months in. Charting that is relatively simple, given Kevin documents washes and soaks with a marker on the inside of one of his pockets. From the sound of it, Kevin spent more time focusing on his denim than his studies, we hope his grades look as good as his fades at the end of the semester.
