Fade of the Day – Jack Barba Japanese Selvedge Wallet and Leather Belt (2 Years)

What’s better than living daily with a long-term item and watching it age gracefully over time? Doing that very thing  with something you made with your own two hands, that’s what. Today’s fade of the day is Jack Barba’s Japanese selvedge wallet and leather belt, two pieces of his own design and making.

Jack is a part-time maker in Austin, Texas who tools on leather belts and wallets when not working as a technology consultant. And this is what his goods look like with a solid two years of patina to them. Aside from the great hardware choice on the belt, it’s those chocolatey tones that give me belt envy and the urge for a bar of the good stuff. The wallet was also made for this column, a well patina’d veg tanned wallet with a Japanese selvedge denim panel? Sign us right up for that double fade.

All the more remarkable, the belt you see here is the first he ever made! You can see what he’s offering in leather over at his website.
