Papa Nui’s Doughboy Hat Cites Original 1910 Red Cross Pattern Books

The king of vintage caps himself, Papa Nui, has just released his latest and greatest headpiece, which is ready to keep your ears warm this winter and available just in time for last minute holiday shopping. Bridging the gap between reference and replica, the Doughboy is a wool beanie that was actually developed from an original 1910 Red Cross booklet.

Sparing no details on even the seemingly-simple pieces, Papa Nui’s latest is handmade in Japan in a limited number run from 100% pure wool, and features an original WWII Red Cross patch as well as the little ‘tinny’ pocket topper button — an excellent period-correct addition that really helps this hat stand out. The Doughboy offered up in two classic colorways, dark navy blue and army green, but just make sure you know the CPR basics when you wear it out in public.

Available for $115 at Iron Heart.
