Andersen Andersen’s Latest Skipper Jacket Dips Into Indigo Waters

Many hardy maritime sweaters out there don’t stray too far from classic designs, but that’s for good reason. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. But Denmark’s Andersen Andersen is one of the few maritime-minded brands to venture a bit outside the expected when it comes to seafaring garments, and their Skipper Jacket is a prime example.

With a contemporary lean, this simple, heavy-duty design has one foot deeply entrenched in Denmark’s maritime past and the other playing footsie with the minimal looks of the present day. The firmly knitted cardigan/jacket utilizes a sturdy gauge-7 merino yarn, bar tacks at all assemblies, and buffalo horn buttons to ensure heft and durability, while a collarless design, hand-warmer pockets with rolled edges at the sides, and double folded sleeve rib to keep it clean.

As an added bonus, all of AA’s indigo-dyed merino wool, including this piece, gets colored with natural indigo leaves from France and India. The extra-spun wool is dyed using the only Woolmark-approved natural coloration technology available and the dyeing recipe contains no chemical additives or synthetic colors.
