Fade of the Day – Dehen 1920 Crissman Overshirt (9 Months, 3 Washes)

We often think of raw denim jeans, or even jackets, but what about overshirts? Today’s Fade of the Day is just that, a Dehen 1920 Crissman overshirt sent in by William Bossen of Seattle. We hope it inspires others to send in their fades of all sorts—we love jeans, but we love fades regardless, no matter what garment or accessory they’ve developed on.

William works four days a week in the city and three days a week in a boat yard, and his Crissman serves him in both scenarios. After nine months, his exploits and hard work have left a lasting impression upon the overshirt to the tune of lighter fading around the seams and edges, with the most showing at the welted hand-warmer pockets and at the elbow. Some excellent looking honeycombs are forming at the elbow and are now (improbably) making their way down to the cuff. William, what sort of sorcery is this?

Best of all, this is the sort of welcome fading that adds a dimension of individuality to a piece, but doesn’t overwhelm it. Will could go right from work to a date, and still look like a stud. Something should be said for that.
