Fade of the Day – Gap Kaihara Skinny Selvedge (10 Months, 8 Washes, 2 Soaks)

We can all remember our first pair of raw denim and how special they were. Today’s Fade of the Day is a pair of Kaihara Japanese Selvedge Skinny Stretch Raw Denim from Gap that come to us from Fabian Gomez Gonzalez of Kansas City.

Fabian wore these about five days a week, including on a mission trip to Mexico, hiking, going to concerts and just bumming around the house. He doesn’t like his jeans to smell and decided to wash them once a month throughout the 10 months he wore them. The stretch probably limits some of the potential in terms of fades, but there are some subtle honeycombs taking shape, and some faint whiskering in the lap. Most of the wear is centralized in the seat and crotch area that has already experienced a blow out, causing him to go out a buy a second identical pair to wear.

Although Fabian is new to the raw denim game and these Gap jeans are his entryway, he has been bitten the way we all have, and his dreams for raw denim greatness are big!
