Fade of the Day – 3sixteen Shadow Type III Jacket (1.5 Years, 1 Wash)

We’ve got some indigo warp, black weft goodness for our Fade of the Day. They come in the form of a Shadow Selvedge type III jacket by 3sixteen from Thomas Fahey of New York City. After a year and a half of wear and only one wash, this jacket has begun to break in nicely. That once shadowy black weft has lightened quite a bit to show more of the shiny indigo warp and such has taken on a whole new look.

Thomas achieved these fades the old fashioned way, by just wearing it. Occasionally, he sports a backpack or a cross-body bag, which explains some of the wear patterns across the back and shoulders. It’s safe to assume he uses the front pockets often, as they too have faded heavily. The tightly stacked honeycombing in the arms and elbows stand out and are well on their way to the electric blue contrasting the Shadow Selvedge jackets are known for.

This jacket has much life left in it. The indigo is holding firm and clearly still evolving. With some more wear and another hand washing or two down the line, those burgeoning fades will become highly contrasted.
