Fade of the Day – The Flat Head x Wild Child wallet (3 Years)

When it comes to both getting good patina and being featured as our Fade of the Day, you just have to use your head. In this case, Jared Wansor of Pennsylvania used The Flat Head! The Flat Head x Wild Child shell cordovan and veg tan cowhide wallet, to be exact.

Jared has used this wallet everyday throughout the last three years, whether it has been worn in the back pocket of pants or casual wear. He has used no oil and no sun tanning, letting the natural leather evolve organically with time and wear.

After three years of natural use, the patina is of the highest caliber. The deep brown at the fold has taken on a dark coffee color—almost to the point of being black—but as it fades down, the wallet it creates an ombre effect, lightening up to a walnut color with cherry tones in between. Impressively, the inside (although more muted) has taken on signs of wear as well, and has come to somewhat match the exterior, with some nice patina on the card slots.
