Iron Heart Applies Their Signature 21oz. Selvedge Denim to a Pea Coat

Pea coats are just the kind of tough coats many rely on to get through hard winters, so it comes at no surprise that Iron Heart would take a stab at the classic. To be honest, they’d probably take it on just to see how tough a pea coat could actually get.

For their version — dubbed the ‘IHM-21’ — they’ve removed the wonted warm woolen outer material and replaced it with their heralded, fade-friendly, tough-as-nails 21oz. selvedge denim, but wisely stuck with the rest of the classic’s detailing. The iconic collar and anchor-button double-breasted closure remain. And, they’ve included satin quilted lining throughout, corduroy lined hand-warmer pockets, and knitted storm cuffs to help fight the cold back. Two internal pockets with selvedge detail are there for your wallet, cigs, and bottle opener, and if you’re part of the Fellowship Of The Fade, this may be the last coat you ever buy.

A word to the wise: I’d consider sizing up to allow for a wool sweater underneath, as I do wonder just how warm it’ll really keep you. Denim isn’t the warmest winter material after all, and the room will allow for a wash down the road. While it is sanforized, it’s also unwashed, so it could still shrink a bit.
