Kiriko’s Hitotsu Boro Tote is a Mashup of Memories

When you have a bunch of leftover vintage Japanese fabrics lying around your studio from past projects, you don’t just throw them out. In fact, if you’re resourceful — like Portland Oregon’s Kiriko  you take those scraps and turn them into something like this new Hitotsu Boro Tote.

At first glance, this bag seems like it’s mostly focused on featuring the beautiful old fabrics that make up its outer layer. But upon closer inspection, this thing is geared up to be one of the most practical and hard-wearing carrying pieces in your closet, outfitted with a 14.75oz. waxed canvas base and lined with an un-waxed version of the same canvas. Do the math folks, that’s some serious weight.

Leather handles are held on with patina’d copper rivets, and there are two hidden inner pockets to help keep you organized on the go. It’s plenty big enough to be a daily carrier, and you’ll look darn good while you’re at it.

Available for $255 at Kiriko Made.
