The Real McCoy’s Type A-3 Caps

There’s a few sure-fire end-game brands in menswear—brands that make make pieces that are essentially good for the long haul. Or at least a whole heck of a lot longer then some of the alternatives. For those that lean towards the military slant and prefer to buy better instead of often, The Real McCoy’s is one of the handful of viable options options worthy of consideration.

While their caps aren’t the up-vote magnet that their leather military jackets are—nor are they as hardy—they do get the same treatment and have a much, much (much) more accessible price point.

The A-3 cap was originally issued in WWII for mechanics, but was quickly adopted by airship pilots and crew members alike for its ease of wear and functional design. And today, people still wear the A-3 for the very same reason. The Real McCoy’s version is made in Japan, has stitching detailing on the peak, and is made from a herringbone cloth that’s purposefully arranged so the “grain” of the herringbone pattern contrasts from patch to patch, for a little added flavor.

Available for $84.38 at The Real McCoy’s London in khaki and olive.
