Fade Friday – Samurai Jeans S5000VX (9 Years, Unknown Washes, 2 Soaks)

After a week of solid fades, we’ve come to another edition of Fade Friday. And whatever you have planned for the weekend, it’s probably not as heavy as these Samurais, submitted to us by Zach from the United States. After almost a decade of wear, it comes as no surprise that this pair of 21 oz. S5000VX are looking completely shredded.

Zach tells us he’s been wearing these beasts regularly for nine years, losing count of how many times he’s washed them in that time. What we’re seeing here is a classic case of Samurai fades – vivid, widespread, and chalky in tone from the coarse, abrasive denim. Stark whiskers span the lap, clawing down to the knees and even to the seat – whilst rippling stacks add another dimension to the hems, which have developed roping fades of their own. And of course, in true heavyweight style, we’ve got a set of insane honeycombs that have stacked up and even started to shred.

There may be no arcs left on Zach’s back pockets, but there’s still some juice left in these Samurais, and he didn’t outline any plans to retire them just yet. Regardless, they have certainly set a standard for a year of fades ahead.
