Fade of the Day – Teranishi Studio Japanese House Slippers (3 Years)

Here’s an unexpected entry for our Fade Of The Day: a pair of Teranishi Studio veg-tanned natural leather house slippers. You should own a pair, I should own a pair, we all should own a pair. But Jordan Andlovec already owns a pair, and here they are.

Leather is pretty special in any form, but veg tanned leather is among the best. It starts to patina instantly, and everytime you wear or use it, you’ll surely add yet another impression upon it. Jordan’s pair is no different, as the original faint pink tone has taken on a rosey caramel color from steady usage, complete with plenty of smudges, stains, and darker areas where it’s come into the most contact with his feet.

But this isn’t just a story about patina, this one’s got fades too (sort of)! Jordan dipped the toes into indigo after purchasing them, so he’s been able to enjoy both the darkening and developing of a patina to the leather, but also the evolution and fading of the indigo in the front. The best of both worlds.
