Fade of the Day – Vintage Swiss Army Belt (59+ Years)

Today’s Fade of the Day is a piece of Swiss Military history. Nick Hell, of Switzerland, received this leather belt in the ’90s from his father after the latter retired from the military. And the military is where Nick’s dad acquired it all the way back in 1959, when he was just 18.

There’s even some speculation that it could have been secondhand when his father received it, potentially making it older than that!

This well-loved belt has seen so much in its long life, and aside from some killer patina, it’s still very much viable in terms of wearability. There are countless nicks and scratches interwoven on top of one another across the surface of the leather, and dark patina in areas of heavy wear, especially where the buckle sits when latched. This belt proves that age is just a number, and spirit goes a long way.
