The Real McCoy’s Quarter Zip Sweatshirts

Simple basics are a category most buy out of sheer necessity, quick to reach for a 5-pack without batting an eye. The problem with basics that require no eye bats to purchase, however, is that they’re essentially disposable. And basics shouldn’t be disposable.

Thankfully, a few folks take those unsung closet heroes as seriously as their most visible top layer, and among those who favor the production methods and styles of the past, The Real McCoy’s—and their ‘Joe McCoy’ sub-label—is among the cream of the crop. Made exclusively for McCoy’s in the Wakayama prefecture of Japan, the Quarter Zip Sweatshirt only strays from the design of its ’50s-rooted predecessors in ways that will help it to last for years and age beautifully in time. At least that’s what they say.

Unfortunately for us, McCoy’s doesn’t share the recipe to their secret combination of herbs and spices, so we’ll just have to take their word for it.
