Arpenteur Gives the Traditional French Fisherman Smock a Denim Makeover

The French have an illustrious history in military fashion, a legacy that French brand Arpenteur keeps alive with their vintage and naval inspired workwear. Arpenteur’s Roscoff Denim Popover is emblematic of this interest and adeptly nods to the French fisherman smocks from decades past.

Despite coming in at a hefty 10oz., the denim fabric with which this shirt is constructed is rinsed and soft and is designed for a relaxed fit with which you can layer beneath. The spread collar sits atop a two loop-button front placket, giving the option to expose or hide the layers worn below. Like many of the original versions that this piece is based on, this shirt has an interior patch pocket on the right breast and an exterior patch pocket on the left breast, perfect for storing some sunglasses and sunscreen when you’re out on the water or just for looking sharp when you’re out on the town.

Available at Unionmade for $308.
