Fade of the Day – Sugar Cane x Self Edge SEXSC06 (3 Years, 3 Washes, 1 Soak)

This pair of Sugar Cane x Self Edge SEXSC06 is more than just a faded pair of jeans – the New York-based Edmund Yan tells us that these jeans are a vessel of fond memories from his college years. Purchased back in 2009, Edmund wore these jeans three solid years before retiring them as a raw denim keepsake of his campus days, hence why they’re our Fade of the Day.

Peppered with dye loss, fades, and gnarly holes, these Canes are beat as hell after years of cycling around campus. The thighs have worn down to nearly white tone that offsets the washed-blue perfectly, and the honeycombs hold remnants of darker indigo hues within their creases. Edmund tells us his mother assisted with many of the repairs back in the day, and that Self Edge also pitched in with some darning and other reinforcements along the way.

If there’s one thing that represents the amount of wear that these Sugar Canes have seen, it’s the leather waist patch. Oily, dark, and cracked, it’s soaked in glowing patina that completes this shredded pair of jeans.
