Papa Nui Drops a Trio of Colorful Twill Caps

Here’s Papa Nui with three made-in-Japan variations upon a theme: the military aviation cap. The fitted caps are each made of a lightweight cotton and have specific origins of military purpose.

The yellow cap you see here is a US Naval design for downed South Pacific pilots, with the bright yellow tone providing visibility and aiding in the rescuing of the pilot. It features a contrasting olive herringbone sweatband and anti-glare under visor. The olive 6oz. Japanese herringbone twill version with an antiglare under-visor is another South Pacific aviator cap, but this one is for the pilots searching for the downed pilots. I guess you get green if you don’t need rescuing, yellow if you do. Finally, the Pusan Red cap is named after Toko-Ri, a location in South Korea depicted in a film about the Korean war entitled Bridges At Toko-Ri.
