Today’s Fade of the Day deviates from our usual denim-centric face and puts us square in the sights of some good old fashioned veg-tanned leather. This Pigeon Tree Crafting veg-tan belt, worn by Dustin Cross of Buffalo, N.Y. shows us how quickly veg tan can wear in.
Dustin didn’t tell us his daily regimen, but we do know in just 10 months he took the sandy leather belt and created some nice deep patina, making the whole belt dark and glossy. The black bridle leather keeper has dulled in color but has also picked up some sheen from natural oils and wear. The veg tan has darkened quite a bit, and wear is most apparent in the belt loop key fob and the dark creases where the belt sits when being worn. The inside of the belt has taken on a bluish hue from being worn with denim, and even the hardware has slightly changed color and taken on some patina.
