Patagonia Steels our Hearts with Dyneema Blend Denim

Hey Patagonia,

Are you okay? We’ve noticed that every time you make denim— like for instance your new “Steel Forge” denim jacket and work pants, it always ends up kinda weird. Sure, these garments are made from Cone Mills dyneema denim and cut and sewn in the U.S., but there’s so much going on!

Both pieces are clearly very strong, and although beautifully dyed with bio-based dyes, the fabric on both has been washed down to the color of your average Salvation Army Levi’s 505. The work pants have more pockets than you can shake a stick at and a regular fit for movement, but damn are they dad-ly. The jacket ought to make for a great, garden-variety chore coat, after it’s been worn down a bit.

Sure we’ll link to your products, Patagonia, because we support what you do, but we wish you’d step up your denim, because we know you can!

Jacket here for $199 and the pants here for $159.
