Fade of the Day – Red Wing 877 (5.5 Years)

Patina time! Our Fade Of The Day is occasionally a leather good, you know, because we don’t discriminate. This pair of Red Wing 877s was sent in by Sunny Bansal of Toronto and they’re certainly worth sharing.

While Sunny has owned the pair for 5.5  years, he’s really only worn them about half that time, during the autumn and winters. This pair has put in about 2.75 years worth of hard work, and they look mighty fine, considering the mileage. The uppers have broken in quite nicely and the toe boxes are especially eye-catching The golden Irish Setter leather has started to bronze a bit, here and there, and even picked up some darker shades, thanks to winter wear. One of our personal favorite areas of patina is where the laces lay tightly against the leather tongue. The boots look great; a testament to the durable materials and expert construction at play, they have a ton of life left to live. Sunny tells us they will get new soles next month as they continue along that path.
