Navy Blue Wool Trousers – Five Plus One
Five Plus One is our weekly series of buyer’s guides. We pick a specific category and dig up five great options along with one that’s a little outside the norm.
If you want to dress up from your normal jeans without veering toward overly formal, you can’t go wrong with a pair of navy wool trousers. Not only will they help elevate your outfit out of the realm of casual, but you may even be able to do so while still wearing many of your favorite casual pieces, such as cashmere sweaters, oxford cloth shirts, and shell cordovan shoes. You might not have reasons to dress up regularly, but it’s always nice to know you have some decent trousers if the occasion arises.
1) Uniqlo: Flat Front Stretch Wool Pants
If you want to get some new wool trousers but don’t want to spend a fortune it’s hard to pass Uniqlo by. Their Flat Front Stretch Wool Pants are incredibly comfortable due to the soft wool and added stretch, but remain looking as dressy as their many counterparts. And if you end up falling in love with the material, there’s good news: they have a matching blazer to dress up your fit that much more.
Available for $60 from Uniqlo.
2) Corridor NYC: Wool Spec Trousers
It’s hard to determine what the most important piece of a garment is, but for me, the most memorable aspect is certainly the fabric. And while Corridor’s Wool Spec Trousers are made of a phenomenal fabric, they certainly don’t rest on their fabric laurels. With great patterns and construction, these slim-tapered trousers are made in the USA from a neppy, navy wool fabric that looks fantastic from afar and even better up close.
Available for $250 from Division Road.
3) Eidos: Sal Trousers in Navy Melange Donegal
Eidos is a brand we don’t get to feature as much as they deserve, which makes us extra happy to share their Sal Trousers in Navy Melange Donegal. Whether you choose to buy the matching jacket or wear these slacks on their own, the beautiful fabric will give an extra pop to any outfit you put together. The fit features a higher-rise and side tabs, making them perfect for those who aren’t a fan of belts and prefer a more vintage style.

4) Norse Projects: Luther Technical Trousers
Formal meets casual meets techwear with Norse Projects new Luther Technical Trousers. The design looks like ordinary wool trousers at first glance, but they feature an elasticated, drawstring waistband for improved comfort and to make them more casual in general. 5) Acne Studios: Brobyn Wool Mohair Trousers
Acne Studios did a great job with their Brobyn Wool Mohair Trousers, which feature an incredibly unique wool/mohair fabric in an otherwise simply styled pair of slacks. This pair is certainly a bit on the formal side for many, and there’s a matching suit jacket available for those who are so inclined.
