Fade of the Day – WTAPS MIKE Hoodie (7 Years, 7 Months)

Today’s Fade Friday is a well-worn WTAPS MIKE hoodie from Andrew Anthony in Chicago. The faded lavender color was made after 7 years and 7 months of wear, and in a vintage-style knit garment such as this, works so well.

We’ve all got a favorite hoodie, this MIKE hoodie might be Andrew’s, and it shows in how much he’s worn and worked in it. Small holes line the hood seams, the ribbing on the cuff is coming undone, and there are other holes throughout the hoodie including a big one on the backside.

Andrew wore this hoodie working on a farm, which explains the condition, repairing the hoodie by hand over time in order to create a perfectly imperfect garment for himself. It’s still got some life left in it, but maybe it’s seen enough farmwork. Andrew has kept his hoodie relatively clean though, and the repairs are just the icing on this Japanese-made security blanket.
