Studio D’Artisan Celebrates 40 Years by Combining Lee and Levi’s Details

These Studio D’Artisan 40th Anniversary Suvin Gold “Crazy” Denim Jacket and Jeans are as crazy as you’d expect, but in all the best ways. Combining two different denims woven with Suvin Gold cotton—a right-hand and a left-hand twill—these garments also combine design elements from classic Lee and Levi’s jackets and jeans.

Suvin Gold cotton is rare and coveted for it’s ability to produce fabrics with a soft feel, it’s silk-like sheen a result of the cotton’s natural waxes. Despite being 15oz. raw denim, these should be soft from the get-go, growing even softer with time. Jeans made from this cotton are remarkable enough on their own, add in these crazy design mash-ups, and you have something that needs to be seen to be believed.

The Crazy Denim Jacket is asymmetrical in design, combining the Lee Rider and Levi’s Type II styles into one slim fitting, disorienting contrast that somehow works. Featuring SDA black coated metal buttons, selvedge detail on the center back and at the button placket, engraved copper rivets, zigzag stitch on the button placket, pony hide leather patch, and back-cinching buttons at the waist, it’s the Frankenstein jacket you didn’t know you wanted until now.

The Crazy Denim Jeans aren’t too insane, but they are slim fitting. Featuring familiar pocket styles from the aforementioned denim giants, but bearing SDA’s arcuates on each, you’ll find selvedge at the coin pocket, cowhide and pony hide leather patches, an offset center belt loop, and heavyweight duck canvas pocket bags. The Crazy jeans are crazy, but not outside our comfort zone.
