True story, my dad was a postman in the 1980s. Not sure he would’ve chosen to rock his postman shoes in an effort to court my mom over a nice dinner, but he might’ve gone with Unmarked’s Dress Postman Shoes instead.
For one, it’s a serious upgrade from the government-issued fare with its calfskin upper and vegetable-tanned leather lining and outsole, so they don’t look like they’re obviously his work shoes. He can also use them on his mail route and feel comfy thanks to the Poron heel cushion and cork midsole. And not only is it Goodyear welted, but the extra-thoughtful storm welt helps keep the rain out. So, when he’s laid down his jacket over a puddle for my mom, he can at least keep his feet dry.
Available for $340 at Unmarked.
