Denim fans, keep calm – this Fade of the Day isn’t raw or even selvedge, but we think you’ll agree it’s still looking pretty nice! Paquito Salazar has been wearing these Levi’s 501s for two years and they’ve acquired some noteworthy whiskers and repair jobs in that time.
It’s hard to get hold of selvedge denim or even raw, shrink-to-fit styles in his native Argentina, so Paquito had these made-in-Mexico 501s altered for a more tapered fit as soon as he bought them. That’s not all the DIY he’s done on this pair – they’ve been darned at the crotch, knee and front pocket as well. Paquito says he lost count after washing them at least 50 times, and you can see evidence of that on the back patch, which is crinkled and torn almost beyond recognition. These jeans are Levi’s ‘original wash’, but they’ve developed some nice contrasts at the thighs and seat after all the wear they’ve had, in fact, he says he was even wearing them when he sat down to submit his fades – that’s dedication!
