Today’s Fade of the Day features Karlo Desembrana’s Naked & Famous Deep Indigo Denim. Karlo lives in Chicago and has been wearing these jeans everywhere for almost two years. However, he attributes his fading to one activity in particular: bicycle riding! Sometimes called the devil fruit of fading (I just made up that up association) because of its ability to speed up the fading process but also wearing down the fabric itself, bike riding is a risky tactic but has worked well for Karlo.
Having only soaked the jeans once and giving them no washes, its apparent that they are brimming with indigo and through Karlo’s dedication to wearing them, he is finally beginning to see results. These jeans use deep indigo which means that the results will be high-contrast fades which highlight electric blue hues. However, because of the indigo saturation, the fades take longer to poke through. That is why even after two years, there is plenty of fading left to do. But this doesn’t mean there isn’t stuff to write home about now. On the contrary, the glowing lines on the jeans are lively, looking like they were injected with LED lights: most notably around the knee, whiskers, and seat. The honeycombs on the other hand are taking a cue from the Deep Sea, mysterious and dark.
