We get lots of denim fades, and sometimes leather patina, but we love to see other well-loved or weatherbeaten items that show wear and tear. Case in point, today’s Fade of the Day, a Japanese brass and steel knife.

This Nagao Kanekoma Factory Higonokami Japanese Brass Blue Paper Steel Knife was submitted by Heddels reader Jeffrey Seeburger of Oceanside, California. He says this knife has been in his pocket almost every day for the past 3 years. Other than common daily uses, it’s seen a lot of camping, and on lazy days in the kitchen, it’s worked well as a paring knife.

During the time the brass has patinated a lot, and the blade appears to have rusted. However, it’s clearly served Jeffrey well.
