Samurai Strikes Up a 15 Oz. Type III Denim Jacket

Japanese denim masters Samurai aren’t in many bricks-and-mortar stores worldwide, so its understandable that the brand is coveted by denimheads across the globe. Hailing from Osaka and founded by Tohru Nogami in 1998, Samurai are renowned for their charmingly Japanese take on American denim classics. Beautifully executed with incredible attention to detail, each selvedge ID on Samurai denim includes a single strand of silver lamé as a reference to the shine of the razor sharp sword of the Samurai.

With this level of thoroughness, it’s hard not to be drawn to beautiful simplicity of their archetypal Type III made from a textbook neppy mid-weight denim. Not available in Japan, this Samurai Type III has been specifically made for the overseas market. Crafted from 15 oz. selvedge denim with a one wash finish, this jacket is made in Japan and features an custom Samurai leather patch and branded hardware. If you’re looking for an understated but informed denim blouson, you could do a lot worse than Samurai’s rendition of the Levi’s classic.

Available for $345 at Blue in Green.
