Five Plus One is our weekly series of buyer’s guides. We pick a specific category and dig up five great options along with one that’s a little outside the norm.
There is no better way to start (or end) your day than by slipping into a comfy pair of slippers. While a million different styles exist, it’s hard to beat a classic leather slipper. Whether you intend to wear them purely for lounging around or will take them out of the house on occasion, it’s easy to find the perfect pair.

2) Feit: Hand Sewn Slippers
If you’re looking for a great pair of slippers that can occasionally be worn out of the house then Feit’s Hand Sewn Slippers are the obvious choice. Constructed from undyed vegetable tanned leather with a rubber outsole, these Goodyear welted slippers are made to the highest quality standards. While some might feel they are a bit too solid to be a “true” pair of slippers, the styling is certainly there.
Available for $600 from FEIT.
3) Viberg: Washed Horsehide Slippers
Viberg’s Washed Horsehide Slippers are another example of slippers that can double as loafers. Made on Vibram’s mini-ripple sole, these horsehide slippers are some of the most divisive on the market—but if you like them… Made in Canada and cutting no costs, these slippers will be with you for as long as you’d like.
Available for $695CAD (~$532USD) from Miloh Shop.
4) Santoni: Leather Slippers
If you’re looking for a pair of slippers made from a soft leather exterior then Santoni’s Leather Slippers are an obvious choice. Both highly attractive and highly padded, these are the kind of slippers you won’t want to take off once you put them on. Each pair is made in Italy and comes with a carrying pouch to ensure you can wear them regardless of where you travels take you.
Available for $395 from Mr. Porter.
5) L.L. Bean: Wicked Good Moccasins
Editor David hopping in here because I could not in good conscience let this article publish without including my love, my rock, the L.L. Bean Wicked Good Moccasin. These aren’t like the other slippers on here that Charlie probably imagined with this topic. I’ve spent at least 20% of my waking hours (and a few sleeping ones) of the last 15 years in these mocs. I’m on my third pair of these platonic ideal slippers. Every half a decade or so, I bust through the bottom of the shearling and then a new pair becomes my go to while the old one is shuttled off to work or the home of a significant other to become my alternates. They’re warm, they’re sturdy, the interior is oh so soft and comforting, and they’ve got a rubber sole for quick jaunts outside. Do yourself a favor and get some.
Available for $79 from L.L. Bean.
Plus One – Derek Rose: Shearling Closed Black Slippers
There is nothing better than a pair of shearling lined slippers. Nothing. And Derek Rose’s Shearling Closed Back Slippers are some of the best available. They feature a classic split-arch style, navy suede exterior, and an incredibly warm, soft, and comfortable shearling interior. Pair these with some comfy PJs and you’ll never feel the need to leave your home again.
Available for $225 from Derek Rose.
