Leather Slippers – Five Plus One

Five Plus One is our weekly series of buyer’s guides. We pick a specific category and dig up five great options along with one that’s a little outside the norm.

There is no better way to start (or end) your day than by slipping into a comfy pair of slippers. While a million different styles exist, it’s hard to beat a classic leather slipper that can also double up as a pair to wear out and about. Whether you intend to wear them purely for lounging around or will take them on your errand runs, this edition with Five Plus One will hppefully inspire you on your journey to find the perfect pair.

1) Viberg: Mule – Noix Eco Grain

Slip-On-Leather-Slippers---Five-Plus-One 1) Viberg: Mule - Noix Eco Grain

While Viberg has a model they actually called a ‘slipper’, their Mule is much more of what I am looking for in a slipper. With no back and a soft lining, these are the ultimate in slip-on house slippers that can actually be slipped on. Featuring shoulder hide from C.F. Stead in England and a custom, Reltex’s Lactae Hevea latex sole from France, these slippers spare no expense in materials or construction quality.

They even feature Goodyear welt construction, meaning they can be re-soled if you ever manage to wear through ’em.

Available for $500 from Viberg.

2) Derek Rose: Morgan Leather Slippers

Slip-On-Leather-Slippers---Five-Plus-One-2)-Derek-Rose-Morgan-Leather-Slippers

Derek Rose‘s Morgan Leather Slippers are definitely a bit more ‘high fashion’ than we usually cover at Heddels, but their clean lines, made-in-England quality, and great colorways make them impossible to ignore if you’re looking for a leather slipper. Featuring a leather outsole — these might not be for everyone — but if you’re a fan of the sleekness that leather soles provide, there truly is no alternative.

Available for $225 from Mr. Porter.

3) Feit: Indoor Slipper

Slip-On-Leather-Slippers---Five-Plus-One-3)-Feit-Indoor-Slipper

A good shoe is just as much about what you can see as what you cannot, and that’s truly the beauty behind Feit‘s Indoor Slipper. Featuring a collapsible calfskin upper and suede outsole, these shoes are designed to feel as light on your feet as possible. However, their choice to use a Lactae Hevea insole offers comfort and bounce for jumping onto the sofa,

Available for $300 from Franklin & Poe.

4) WP Standard: Mr. Grumpy Leather Slippers

Slip-On-Leather-Slippers---Five-Plus-One-4)-WP-Standard-Mr.-Grumpy-Leather-Slippers

WP Standard‘s Mr. Grumpy Leather Slippers are one of the best value options in the slip-on leather slipper zeitgeist. Made from thick, quality leather with a stitched-on sole, these low-profile slippers look ace —but they have a secret. The leather outsole has inset rubber studs to add traction. ‘Cause let’s be honest, if you slip in your leather-soled slippers in the morning, you’re gonna stay grumpy long after I’ve had your coffee.

Available for $99 from WP Standard.

5) Todd Snyder x Armandro Cabral: Quebo Zip Pouch Slipper

Slip-On-Leather-Slippers---Five-Plus-One-5)-Todd-Snyder-x-Armandro-Cabral-Quebo-Zip-Pouch-Slipper

You don’t need to spend a lot to get a quality pair of slippers, but if you have a few extra bills lying around and want some truly extravagant slippers you can truly ball out with Todd Snyder x Armandro Cabrals Quebo Zip Pouch Slippers. As the name implies, these collapsible slippers come with a complimentary pouch for storage and travel. Yes, it’s extravagant and unnecessary, but so is basically everything about these slippers.

Constructed from an almost iridescent deerskin, these slippers are made in Italy and  are available for $598 from Todd Snyder.

Plus One – JW Anderson: Bumper-Tube Leather Slippers

Slip-On-Leather-Slippers---Five-Plus-One-Plus-One---JW-Anderson-Bumper-Tube-Leather-Slippers

JW Anderson is another designer not frequently written about at Heddels, but sometimes you just have to break the mold. And that’s exactly what this designer did with their Bumper-Tube Leather Slippers. Featuring a wide sole that I can only compare to a mid-century modern platform bed — they’re certainly a unique look. That said, I can’t stop staring at them, and while I’m not sure that means they’re just a pair I’d buy if I had all the money in the world, I certainly am glad they exist for those who would.

Available for $368 from JW Anderson.
