RRL’s Handwoven Pecos Leather Duffle Is Inspired By a Rug From The 30s

Want a carry-on bag that makes you feel like John Dillinger or Bonnie and Clyde? Well RRL does, apparently and their new Handwoven Pecos Leather Duffle might be the closest thing to Americana bank robber you can do without winding up on the FBI’s most wanted list.

A very limited release, the Duffle is truly a sight to behold. Made by hand in Mexico, the woven portion is based on a rug from the RRL archives, but just about every piece of this bag is just as exceptional.

Though the Southwestern rug, with its rust color scheme is eye-catching, the leather work is just as impressive (if not more). Look at the corners, where the leather has been embossed with a flower pattern or the central leather trim, which has been stitched with elaborate cowboy boot style designs. It’s a bag so nice, you probably won’t even want to put it in the overhead compartment next time you fly, you’ll probably just hold it on your lap and look at it.

We all know that RRL does some impressive work, but this bag is really above and beyond. Every detail, from the brass hardware, the cotton liner, to the adjustable side tabs is a work of art and every tiny bit melds together for a piece that is really exceptional…if not entirely subtle.
