Eat, sleep, wear, wash, repeat—this is the life denim heads choose for themselves. It’s very hard since you can’t restart the cycle until you complete that last step. I haven’t eaten in 6 months.

But seriously, Ryan Rudolph has kept it simple for the last 2.5 years while creating these lively fades with a pair of Japan Blue jeans. Worn for a year before their first wash, and then tossed in the laundry whenever necessary, allowing Ryan to have his denim and wear it too.

What I mean by this honestly very clever adaptation of the classic saying is this:  waiting a year for the first wash allowed the fades to confidently form and solidify their shape and the subsequent frequent washes allowed the fades to get real bright. A good example of this package working in harmony is the blend between the light-colored lap and the thin, creeping whiskers, which both work together to create an ethereal look.

As the jeans began wearing thin, Ryan turned to a combo of ripstop and Sashiko to produce beautiful and fortified repairs throughout the jeans adding even more character to this wicked pair if Japan Blues.
