Dawson Denim Mercantile Apron

Heddels-Lifestlye-Edit-Vol.-2-front

We can all use an apron to protect our clothing from some of life’s activities. You know it, I know it,  and my collection of hot-sauce-stained white t-shirts know it better than anyone.

Dawson Denim’s Mercantile Apron is inspired by the work aprons worn by both men and women in grocery stores up until the 1950s to protect their clothing during the working day. The British denim brand uses the whole width of a roll of 13oz. Japanese selvedge denim to cut these aprons, resulting in a red line selvedge on either side.

Reinforced with copper rivets and grommets and equipped with multiple pockets, this apron is ready to serve you during the messiest of times and pick some gnarly fades along the way

Available from Dawson Denim for £110 (~$131 USD)

Salt & Stone Sunscreen Face Stick

Heddels-Lifestlye-Edit-Vol.-2-salt

At the time of writing this volume of our lifestyle edit, many parts of the world are in a state of lockdown due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus. For most of us, that means going out as little as possible, preferably once a day for exercise and staying as far away from others as possible.

When this is all over and we’re eventually allowed to return back to our normal routines, let’s hope the sun is shining and we can all enjoy the great outdoors with our friends and loved ones. I don’t want to be a stickler, but when that time does come, protect your face! Our skin will definitely welcome some long-needed vitamin D, but not at the expense of sunburn/skin damage.

These sunscreen face sticks by Salt & Stone are a really handy way to top up your defenses. Coming in at SPF 50, this treatment is water-resistant up to 80 minutes and reef safe. It’s also enriched with jojoba, sunflower and vitamin E oils to help moisturize and protect your skin.

Cruelty free, made in the USA, and fits right in your pocket—what’s not to like?

Available from Tanner Goods for $18

Lodge 12″ Cast Iron Skillet

Heddels-Lifestlye-Edit-Vol.-2-plate

As the lockdown continues, many of us are getting more and more active in the kitchen. And while it shouldn’t take a global pandemic to usher you into the world of cast iron pans and skillets, there’s no time like the present to invest in some quality ironware.

We’ve given you the to-do on cast iron skillets in our article, ‘Tis the Seasoning – All About Cast Iron Skillets, which covers the basics and how to care for your skillet

If you’ve never cooked in one of these bad boys, you’re in for a treat. They get so much better with age, so don’t expect instant flavor-boosts. But trust us, it’s worth it. You can use them to cook pretty much anything, and cook that anything in pretty much any way—whether it’s by frying, searing, or even transferring it into the oven to bake something off.

Depending on what you cook and how you cook it, a bare cast iron skillet will become seasoned, picking up a slick layer of non-stick coating of polymerized oils and fats, which will improve the efficiency and non-stick qualities of the pan.

And to top it all off, this humble skillet from longstanding cast-iron brand, Lodge, will probably outlive you if cared for properly. Get cookin’!

They come in a variety of rugged, rural scents that capture some of nature’s highlights in a small bottle, including oakmoss and amber, fir, wild fig, and peppercorn.

Tender Coffee Mugs & Cups

Heddels-Lifestlye-Edit-Vol.-2-two-glasses

Whether enjoying a cup of home-brewed joe to yourself or with guests, it’s always better out of a beautiful vessel. And while yard sales are an untapped source of beautiful vintage pottery and ceramics, Tender has a range of inspired coffee mugs and cups that are full of wabi-sabi goodness.

Tender’s mugs are hand-thrown by hand by one man in the brand’s homeland of England, using clay dug in Britain.

Tender’s potter works the clay directly with his bare hands, so each piece is unique and bears the marks of his fingers and thumbs. He leaves the bases of these cups unglazed to expose the original character of the native clays. Sip in style!

Available from Red Cast Heritage for $24 – $36
