Momotaro Gives The Classic French Chore Jacket A Sashiko Makeover

Ever-innovative Momotaro offer up a textured slice of East-meets-West with this sashiko take on the textbook French chore coat. The Indigo Jacquard Sashiko French Work Jacket takes the classic silhouette of everyone’s favorite utility garment and transforms it into something quintessentially Japanese with decorative sashiko stitching, adding depth and texture to this understated classic.

But this isn’t just a nod to past craft as the French Work Jacket is 3M lined allowing it to perform in cooler temps and with a slimmer fit than vintage examples, it makes for a more contemporary silhouette and avoids the baggy, square and ill fitted look that true workwear can sometimes afford.

The shell is made from a medium weight sashiko which is woven on an old jacquard machine with indigo dyed yarns. Over washes and wears, the jacket will fade over time, adding more character, contrast and texture to the not-so-subtle sashiko.
