Mateusz Nowak of Poland has owned his Carhartt Detroit J01 for the best part of a decade and it clearly shows. This jacket is a great example of an honest, hardwearing, and affordable piece that won’t let you down in terms of construction and fading potential alike.
Achieving an almost airbrushed look, not only has Mateusz given us a refresher from indigo and denim content, the aging of his tan duck canvas is inspiring me to fade some myself.
With contrasting so difficult to achieve because of its already light shade, you need to look at each point of visible wear on this thing and realize it took repetitious wear in all weather conditions for years to achieve this look. A look that brands are trying to artificially replicate but will never quite grasp—because this authentic wear is, well, just something else.
