Jelado Renders Its Westcoat Shirt In Indigo Dyed Cotton Gauze

When I broke my arm in 8th grade and needed a splint, where was the Jelado Westcoast S/S shirt made from indigo-dyed gauze fabric? Nowhere. Instead, I was stuck with medical-grade gauze tape.

When the shirt is this handsome, I can forgive it. A staple of Jelado’s Starry Gate collection, the Westcoast shirt is rendered every season and always stays true to its 50s inspiration. Featuring—get your clipboards out—an open collar *check*, boxy silhouette *check*, and square hem *check*.

Each time the Westcoast shirt returns, however, it takes on a charming twist. This time around its the loose weave gauze which is highly breathable, making it the fabric equivalent of a cool breeze. Its breathability also means it would have been better than the medical gauze I had when I broke my arm, which was hot and itchy. But I promise I am over it and not bitter.

Smaller details on this made in Japan classic include a chest pocket, a Cupra rayon lined neck, and 4 eyelet plastic buttons.
