Fade Friday – Edwin ED-55 (3.5 Years, 5 Washes, Unknown Soaks)

“A pair of jeans, much loved”. That’s what these Edwin Jeans are for Erik Falk in Sweden. But this ain’t no obituary. In fact after 3.5 years, 5 washes, and tons of soaks, these jeans are still raring to go.

Bought on sale for 90% off, Erik really got his money’s worth, wearing them non stop for work until a newer, fancier pair came into the rotation which gave them a much-needed breather. Although the shiny new pair with all the bells and whistles were supposed to take the torch, Erik still comes back to these Edwins time and time again, even after 3 crotch repairs. But can you really blame him? After doing all the work to get these jeans nice ‘n’ worn-in, why jump the comfort ship for the rigid indigo sea right away?

Featuring a real bright seat, thighs, and calfs (how?), these jeans are perfectly seasoned with deeply entrenched honeycombs, whiskers, and knee craters. However, what really steals my heart, and keeps Erik coming back I think are all the homemade repairs. With every stitch, a home-mended garment just becomes that much more personal and harder to move on from.

It looks like Erik will wear and repair until the actual jean obituary is needed.
