Raleigh Denim Sews Up Its First Vidalia Mills Selvedge

The Cone Mills White Oak Plant may be gone forever, but the Draper looms that churned out their famous denim have been given new life over at Vidalia Mills. The new denim coming off those legendary looms looks promising and a few of our favorite brands have begun whipping it into new jeans.

Raleigh Denim has launched a new 100% made-in-USA jean in their Jones fit, using Vidalia selvedge denim. Though currently in the pre-order stage, these red-line selvedge jeans ought to be ready in 3-4 weeks and will give us another chance to see what this new denim is all about. This slim-straight, mid-rise fit jean will feature brass hardware, a red chainstitch hem, and limited edition leather patches.

Although the denim comes from a very old-school loom, the garment doesn’t look especially classic, thanks to a painted stripe on the back pocket and some busy-looking stitchwork. But who can turn their noses up at Draper-loomed denim?
