Snake Oil Provisions Announces New Nashville Location

Over the last seven months, many small businesses have been brought to the brink by the covid-19 pandemic, but a lucky few have risen above the hardship and are taking the opportunity to expand.

One of these lucky businesses is Snake Oil Provisions, the raw denim boutique owned and operated by Ben Neuhaus and Miranda Malloy, which announced the imminent opening of its second location last month. The new SOP will be located in Nashville, in the Urban Cowboy hotel, far from the flagship’s Long Beach, CA roots.

Neuhaus and Malloy had long wanted to expand to a second location, but COVID-19 halted talks with developers and partners in both LA and New York. “Nashville was never even on our radar,” said Neuhaus, “we have a good growing customer base [there], but it wasn’t something we ever thought about.” Lucky for Nashville, that all changed with a little finagling by a hotelier friend of the brand that ultimately connected Snake Oil to Urban Cowboy. Three short months (and one letter of intent on a paper towel) later and the plans were set, there would officially be a second branch of Snake Oil Provisions!

Set in the intimate and picturesque Urban Cowboy hotel, the new Snake Oil Provisions location will be smaller and more condensed than its LA flagship. “At least at first, we’re going to do the greatest hits, said Neuhaus. Malloy chimed in, “We’re going to do some special projects that are just Nashville. We’re doing vintage Harley tees, we’re partnering with a vintage jewelry dealer, and we’re looking at some new brands we’re going to bring in.”

Don’t expect a “carbon copy” of the Long Beach store, Neuhaus explains. If its setting in a Victorian mansion isn’t enough of a difference, the merchandise will differ slightly in the Nashville location, giving the brand a creative outlet and a chance to deviate from the form.

Any kind of expansion can be risky, especially one conceived and executed in such difficult times, but the Snake Oil fanbase is already rallying to the cause. “Our customer base is actually bigger there than we had realized and the reaction to the opening has been insane, completely bonkers!”

In preparation for the November 7th opening, half of the hotel’s eight suites have already been booked by SOP fans dying to get into the new store.
