American Trench Sews Up A Charming Collection From Deadstock Woolrich Fabrics

At the end of 2018, operations at the Woolrich Woolen Mill ceased for good. While the brand continues to trade, the oldest woolen mill in the USA was liquidated and shuttered. But alas, this story has somewhat of a happy ending. Ever on-the-ball American Trench sourced some of the last remnants of the famous fabrics and the fruits of these labors are just hitting the market.

After driving from Philadelphia to Woolrich and spending hours in the factory, American Trench ended up with a collection of incredible fabrics which otherwise we may not have seen again. The release includes a handful of check shirting and some heritage-inspired homeware in the form of pillow covers and blankets.

The Plaid Wool Overshirt has been manufactured by the New England shirt Co. in Fall River, MA., and is pretty much the only shirt you’re gonna need this fall. Available in four colorways, it features a spread collar, two button-through chest pockets, and a shirttail hem. It comes in a fitted silhouette which allows for layering and could easily double as an overshirt in the warmer months.

And for spending even more time ‘back at the ranch’ (thanks, COVID-19), there’s a selection of pillow covers that feature Southwestern patterns that’ll make your living room look immediately like Doug Bihlmaier’s cabin. Similarly, the Green Shadow Plaid Wool Blanket and Southwest Pattern Wool Blanket will comfortably see you through the winter from the fireside to the lakeside.

This collection commemorates the legacy of an American institution in the best way possible; with pieces that will be by your side for many, many, years to come.
