Fade Friday – Nudie Thin Finn (8.5 years, 5 Washes, 2 Soaks)

Andy in Los Angeles, CA had the humble desire to have a “unique fade” on his Nudie Jeans and after 8.5 years, I think he’s achieved that and then some. And then some more, just for good measure. Over the course of nearly a decade, Andy has worn them religiously on and off the clock, washing them 5 times and soaking them twice. So, to recap, these jeans have touched water one time less than the number of years Andy has had them.

Now, they don’t have insane contrast that some people go for but instead have a lot of depth and layers which are great to dig into. They are “post-fade”. For instance, there are remnants of whiskers that have probably faded away with the rest of the lap. Looking at the honeycomb region, you’d think you had on 3-D goggles — not because of the contrast necessarily — but the physical ridges!

However, it’s the numerous repairs and how they interact with the fades that really sets these jeans apart. They’ve been sent to Nudie for repairs 3 times, gaining more character with each visit. The creases and fades themselves are great but having slatherings of repairs on top makes them utterly framable.
