Gold Toe Men’s Cotton Crew 656s Sock Review

This piece is a part of our Great White Sock Review, which runs down all the different white cotton socks we could get our hands on.

My first dress socks as a kid were Gold Toes. I remember looking at them with derision every Sunday morning as I had to squish my feet into hand me down penny loafers for church.

Not so today! At less than $3 a pair, the Gold Toe 656 is, dollar for dollar, the best white sock you can buy.

Fit

The Gold Toe fit feel is natural and well done. They didn’t constrain my feet at all and you can see there’s no excess bulk piling up anywhere on my feet.

They’re also very easy on and off.

Fabric

The fabric itself is smooth on the outside and slightly plush, maybe a little bit poky on the inside, but something that should likely even out with repeated wears.

Construction

Very few complaints for something that clocked in at $1.50 per sock. It’s far from the exacting standards of the more upmarket offerings in this test, but there’s really nothing wrong with it.

Conclusion

If you want to buy An Sock, and don’t want to spend a lot of money, there’s really no better option than the Gold Toe. Easy on, easy off, fit well and feel decent enough.
