Lady White Co. Athletic Sock Review

This piece is a part of our Great White Sock Review, which runs down all the different white cotton socks we could get our hands on.

Winner winner, socks for dinner! The term “elevated basics” gets thrown around so much it probably needs Tommy John surgery, but Lady White has done it again with an upscale take on the classic white cotton sock that I can’t think of any other pair I’d rather have on my feet for the money.

Fit

Not too loose, not too tight. The Lady White slips on easily and doesn’t drift down the back of your calf throughout the day.

Its toe stitch stays in place properly and it’s easy to forget they’re on your feet at all.

Fabric

Neat linked rows of individual knits keep Lady White’s sock smooth and durable despite being relatively thin and compact compared to a lot of the other socks I tested.

It’s only one, single-faced row of knit, so there’s not much compression/cushion in them, but you don’t need it. They feel much more akin to a second skin.

Construction

Top notch. The even knitting and the subtle ribs make the sock look clean and even while also keeping it up your leg without leaving compression marks on your skin. No uneven threads or missed knits on my pair.

Conclusion

If I had to fill a sock drawer with just one of the pairs I tested, it would be this one. It’s versatile enough to pair with sneakers while still slip into some more casual dress shoes. It’s comfy, it’s smooth, it’s durable, and it looks just as good after two dozen washes and wears as it did the first.

I honestly tried to come in a little harder on Lady White as they won the t-shirt test, but Phil and the team have knocked this one out of the park as well. Buy this sock.
